Entry 1 - March 14, 2007
1. What are some of the previous research projects you have done?

Some research projects that I have done were about Labyrinths, Early Humans, the Colonial Age, the mythology of Japan, and The Renaissance.

2. Based on these projects, what does research mean to you?

It means learning and understanding more about the main ideas of the topic. For example, for the mythology of Japan, I had to research about all the main Gods and also know of how Japan came to be (from the Gods).

3. Describe one of your research successes or failures. Why was the experience positive or negative?

One of my research successes was when I researched about Early Humans. My topic was about Cro-Magnons who were the past forms of homo-sapiens that lived 40,000 to 10,000 years ago in the Upper Paleolithic period somewhere in Europe. The reason for my research success was because I knew how the Cro-Magnons lived their daily lives and what they were able to achieve. This was a success becuase with all the research I gathered, I was able to give a teacher a clear and descriptive idea of how important the Cro-Magnons were in human history which was the point of my project.

Teacher Response March 15
I placed a gray line at the end of your response. You neglected to put one there. You have done some really interetingresearch projects! Your grade is 10/10.

Entry 2 - March 15,2007
1. I think the webbing process helped/did not help me find a topic because:

Because it was so organized. For any topic I wanted, I organize all my facts in to the webbing and it was so easy to use. With it, I was able to find a topic that I wanted to research about.
Entry 3 - March 15, 2007
1. Topic:

My topics for this project are the Children's Crusade, Geishas, and Muhammad (the person). My preferred topic is about the Children's Crusade.

2. Why you chose it:

I chose these topics because I've already learned about them and they interest me.

3. What you already know about your topic:

For the Children's Crusade, I know that it was a crusade led by children during the Medieval Times and ended unsuccessfully. For Geishas, I know that they were Asian (Japanese and Chinese) entertainers that had specific steps in their training and could rise in power. For Muhammad, I know that he was considered a prophet and preached in Islam.

Teacher Response March 16
Your grade is 20/20.

Entry 4 - March 16, 2007
1. Brainstorm a list of questions related to your topic

1. Why did it occur?
2. Who started the crusade?
3. What is the aftermath of the crusade?
4. Who was part of the crusade?
5. What time period was it?
6. Did they succeed?
7. Where did it take place?
8. Does it truly exist?
9. Who started it?
10. How did it affect their lives?
11. What was the importance of the crusade?
12. What impact did it have on European attitudes towards crusades? -fat question-

Entry 5 - March 16, 2007
1. Describe how the pre-notetaking sheet helped you find both focus for your topic and research questions to investigate. Did you find it easy or difficult to create a fat question from your ideas?

The pre-notetaking sheet helped me because it was useful in knowing what information I had to research for. I found it slightly difficult to create a fat question from my ideas because I never really expected to find that the Childrens' Crusade to have an impact on what Europeans thought about crusades until I researched more about the topic and recieved some assistance from my teachers.

Teacher Response March 20 - You don't have a fat question listed. Which question will be your fat question? Let's talk about this tomorrow. If you don't get a fat question locked down, you may have trouble during the research process. 19/20

Entry 6 - March 20, 2007
1. What have I learned today?
2. What problems have I had?
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?
4. What will I do next?

I have learned that the Children's Crusade began in the 13th century and that it ended tradegically. The problem that I have had is that I haven't been able to figure out what my fat question should be so now I don't know how important the Children's Crusade is. What I might use, though, is the last question (#12 What impact did it have on European attitudes toward crusades) because then I will be able to tell how important the Children's Crusade is with saying how it affected the attitudes towards other crusades. What I will do next is try to research more and find more information.

Teacher response March 21 - Yes, that is a great fat questions! 10/10

Teacher Response March 22 - Where is your wiki entry for last night? 0/10.

Entry 7 - March 21, 2007 (late)
1. What have I learned today?
2. What problems have I had?
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?
4. What will I do next?

Today I have learned about who began the Children's Crusade and the affect of it. The problem that I had is that I wasn't able to figure out my fat question until I talked with Mrs. DaQuanno agreeing with her to use question twelve. What I will do next is is research more to try and find an answer to my fat question.

Entry 8 - March 22, 2007
1. What have I learned today?
2. What problems have I had?
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?
4. What will I do next?

What I learned today is that from one of the library books I was able to find an impact on what the Chidren's Crusade did. That impact was that the Children's Crusade made people began to question whether the Crusades were the right thing to do and that people began to judge and criticize the Pope's actions. A problem that I have had is that if I put information on the wiki without signing on or saving the information, the stuff that I put on probably will not show up. So to overcome the problem, I will have to always remember to sign on and save my stuff. What I will do next is try to find more answers to my fat question and answers to my skinny questions.
